At the ASEAN meetings in Phenom Penh, US Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan has overshadowed the gathering.
ASEAN foreign ministers warned that the risk of miscalculation in the Taiwan Strait could lead to confrontation among the major powers.
The United States has described China’s military response in the Taiwan Strait as a “significant escalation”, while China has warned the US against creating a bigger crisis.
