Sturgeon says gender row was not behind resignation

There was shock as Nicola Sturgeon announced she was quitting as first minister.

The SNP leader has suffered recent setbacks on her campaign for a second referendum on Scottish independence as well as reforms of transgender rights.

But she denied her decision was due to what she called "short term pressures".
