Starmer confirms 'scaling back' of £28bn green pledge | Labour Party

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has announced that no "new or further investment" in green technology will be made should a Labour government be elected.

Sir Keir said that the Conservatives had done "terrible damage to the economy", which had forced that party's hand on future investment options.

The current government had decided to "max out the credit card" he said, and his party had "been through a process" so that Labour could stick to "the right commitments" ahead of putting an election manifesto together.

Other commitments - to green steel, gigafactories, GB Energy and a National Wealth Fund - were fully funded and remain in place, he said.
