The Speaker of the House of Commons has made a statement condemning "sexist" comments published in the Mail on Sunday about Angela Rayner.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle said he would be meeting with the newspaper's editor to discuss further as well as Ms Rayner.

Labour's Deputy Leader was accused of trying to distract Boris Johnson during Commons exchanges. The Prime Minister has described the comments as "misogynist tripe".
