House Speaker Kevin McCarthy criticized Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-NY, after he allegedly triggered a fire alarm Saturday in one of the U.S. Capitol office buildings as lawmakers scrambled to pass a bill to fund the government before the midnight shutdown deadline, calling it "an embarrassment" and that it "should not go without punishment."

Bowman "regrets" triggering a building alarm a spokesperson said. "Congressman Bowman did not realize he would trigger a building alarm as he was rushing to make an urgent vote. The Congressman regrets any confusion." https://trib.al/kaMyvar
