South Korea's lantern festival has been honoured by UNESCO, with a special designation for intangible cultural heritage.
The Lotus Lantern Festival is an event to celebrate Buddha's birthday and symbolizes the lighting up of the world to make an abundant and fair place for everyone.
It is known as the Lotus Lantern Festival or "Yeon Deung Hoe" in Korean, and It was among 25 applicants to receive the honour by the United Nations.
