Somalia has begun the second phase of its military offensive against al-Shabab fighters.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud says his government wants to eliminate the al-Qaeda-linked armed group within five months.
The country has deployed 12,000 soldiers and clan-based fighters to central Somalia.
Al-Shabab fighters have been withdrawing from towns,
but, as Al Jazeera’s Catherine Soi reports, they are still able to carry out attacks.
