Soldier seriously injured in stabbing as man is arrested

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an army officer in uniform was stabbed near a barracks in Kent.

The prime minister has condemned the attack, saying he is "shocked and appalled".

The soldier is in a serious but stable condition after being airlifted to hospital.
