- Tens of thousands of nurses are going on strike today for their first mass walkout in a century across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

- Nurses will continue to strike in January if the government does not negotiate with them on pay, union leader Pat Cullen has told Sky News.

- The union wants a 19% pay rise - equivalent to inflation plus 5% - while the offer on the table is closer to 5%.
