- In Syria, rebel-held areas are reporting 790 deaths and government regions have recorded 812.
- Rescue workers face a race against time to find survivors of the deadly earthquake, as teams pick through tangles of metal and concrete from thousands of flattened buildings.
- Severe weather conditions are hampering efforts to send aid to some regions with many survivors left homeless and without essentials in freezing temperatures.
