One year on from the explosion that ripped through one of Beirut’s main ports, drone footage has laid bare the wasteland that the blast left behind.
While the framework structures of the grain silos destroyed in the explosion remain somewhat standing, the surrounding area remains almost exactly as it was immediately after the blast.
The explosion killed over 200 people back in August 2020, and registered on the Richter scale as a 3.3-magnitude seismic event.
Investigators believe a fire in a nearby warehouse set off the blast, after it ignited a large cargo of improperly stored TNT.
However, the exact cause of the explosion has still not been officially determined.
