House of Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle says he is "disappointed" when people feel they can't stand at elections "because of threats that they've had".

His comments come after Mike Freer announced he is standing down as an MP over personal safety fears after his office was hit by an arson attack.

Sir Lindsay says he will continue to review safety measures to ensure that the "people that work with us are safe."
