The Commons Speaker has launched an impassioned defence of his decision yesterday that led to chaos in the Commons.

Sir Lindsay Hoyle once again apologised and insisted his controversial decision to select a Labour amendment in the Gaza ceasefire vote was made for the safety of MPs.

Some 59 MPs have signed a motion of no confidence in the Speaker.
