Hundreds of people filled a Paris park on Sunday, a show of defiance to the ban on public gatherings imposed by the government on the public in France's COVID-19 fight.

A crowd of around 300 people danced and cheered as electronic music blasted from a loudspeaker in the capital's Buttes-Chaumont park during the party, which some have deemed to be "improvised."

"I think people are just telling themselves, 'Actually, we don't care. We'll do as we please, we're careful with the masks on and all that,'" partygoer Giovanni said.

Public gatherings in France are limited to a maximum of six people as the country faces its third nationwide lockdown.
