San Jose Police spokesperson Russell Davis provided a timeline of the response by authorities to the mass shooting that occurred at a light rail yard run by the Valley Transit Authority.

He said while he could not confirm the cause of death of the suspect, he could confirm deputies did not exchange gunfire. Davis added bomb squads and Homeland Security are both still on scene.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom also spoke during the briefing on the mass shooting. He said that there was a "numbness" to the incident because there was a "sameness," citing pass shooting incidents not only in California but across the U.S.
