Russia-Ukraine conflict: At least 22 killed in Russian missile attack

Russian missiles struck the Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia behind the front lines on Thursday in an attack that Ukrainian officials said is one of the deadliest single-day attacks.

The missiles were reportedly fired from a Russian submarine in the Black Sea.

The office buildings and residential areas hit in Vinnytsia are nowhere near the front lines in Ukraine's Donbas region.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said last week that Russia had barely gotten started in Ukraine and dared the West to try to defeat it on the battlefield, while insisting that Moscow was still open to the idea of peace talks.
