The US state department has warned Russia is planning to launch fresh attacks against Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure and government buildings.

The warning comes ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day on Wednesday – which also marks six months since Russian troops invaded.

Tensions are particularly high following a string of explosions and attacks in Russian-occupied Crimea.

Russia has also blamed Ukraine for a car bomb attack that killed political commentator Dara Dugina outside Moscow – Kyiv denies involvement.
