Rupert Murdoch is stepping down as chairman of Fox and News Corporation, with his son, Lachlan, set to take over the empire.

His career, spanning almost seven decades, has made him one of the wealthiest and most powerful media moguls in the world.

In a 1986 interview with 60 Minutes, the then Australian businessman talked about his controversial move into the British media market and his hard-fought battles with the unions.
