US media mogul Rupert Murdoch is to step down as chairman of Fox and News Corp.

The 92-year-old created Fox broadcasting in 1986.

It eventually became the number one cable news channel in the United States. It is also known as one of the biggest platforms for Republicans.

His son Lachlan will now become the sole chairman of both companies.
