A Women's March rally took over the streets of Washington, D.C., on Saturday in response to the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to overturn the landmark abortion rights decision, Roe. v. Wade.

The rally comes a day after U.S. President Joe Biden signed an executive order on Friday to protect access to abortion as he faced mounting pressure from Democrats to be more forceful on the subject.

The actions he outlined are intended to mitigate some potential penalties that women seeking abortion may face after the ruling but are limited in their ability to safeguard access to abortion nationwide.

Biden said it would take an act of Congress to restore access to abortion in the more than a dozen states where strict limits or total bans have gone into effect in the wake of the Supreme Court's ruling.
