"It was like the end of the world," was a description from one British tourist in Rhodes who escaped the wildfires.

The Foreign Office has sent a rapid deployment team to support British Nationals at Rhodes Airport.

It's warning holidaymakers to check with their travel companies and not visit the areas impacted - and many airlines have cancelled flights.
