More than a year into the pandemic, coronavirus variants are making it harder for people to avoid infection and changing the way people should be protecting themselves against the virus, as daily activities like grocery shopping become riskier than they used to be before the variants.
Experts are now recommending doubling down on precautions, as the current measures might not be effective enough to protect against more contagious variants, like B.1.1.7, first detected in the U.K., and the P.1 variant, first detected in Brazil.
