The Chennai police has imposed restrictions on New Year celebrations following the centre's alert that large gatherings could turn superspreaders. Hotels and bars would have to shut by 10 pm. There can be no celebration on beaches and roads. NDTV's Sam Daniel sent this report from a bar.
