The link between ram raids and tobacco isn't clear according to new research by the University of Otago, with the rate of ram raids declining sharply since 2022.

This research contradicts Christopher Luxon's claims made in the lead-up to the election, saying putting tobacco back into stores would mean fewer ram raids.
