The guilty verdict of real estate heir Robert Durst was read out in court on Friday in California, with a jury convicting him of murdering his friend Susan Berman.

Berman, who was shot at point-blank range in the back of the head in her Los Angeles home in December 2000, was supposed to talk to investigators about the disappearance of Durst's first wife, who he had been suspected of also allegedly killing but never been charged.

Durst may spend the rest of his life in prison.
