New York Governor Kathy Hochul held a press conference on Wednesday, providing an update on the explosion that took place earlier in the day at the Rainbow Bridge crossing in Niagara Falls at the Canada-US border.

Hochul began by assuring citizens that there is currently “no indication of a terrorist attack,” adding that it took place on the busiest travel day of the year for U.S. citizens— the day before Thanksgiving.

According to Hochul, “the [currently unidentifiable] vehicle crashed into a customs and border patrol booth” and immediately exploded, killing two in the vehicle, and injuring a border patrol employee.

The border agent was sent to a local hospital with minor injuries and has since been released.

New York State Police officials say the investigation is ongoing and will continue for “a number of days.”

"More information could arise. But based on the preliminary investigation, no sign of terrorist involvement in the horrific explosion occurred,” Hochul reiterated.
