A quiet promotion involves taking on more responsibilities, and more work, while keeping the same job title and the same pay.

A promotion sounds good, but beware of the quiet promotion that's really exploitation. Career strategist Sweta Regini has experienced it herself.

“And when I reflect back I felt like, ‘you know what – that is wage theft and abuse,” Regini tells Global News.

The quiet promotion, also known as “quiet hiring,” has become more commonplace in this market where job vacancies abound.
