After more than six hours the Queen's cortege arrived in Edinburgh, after a 290 kilometre journey.
The hearse was met at the Palace of Holyroodhouse by a military guard of honour.
Her coffin will remain at the royal residence overnight.
It will then be taken to Saint Giles Cathedral on Monday, where the Queen will lie in state for 24 hours, before her remains are flown to London.
Al Jazeera’s Alan Fisher reports from Edinburgh in Scotland.
