Russian President Vladimir Putin told the new U.S. ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, that the support America showed for a revolution in Ukraine in 2014 led to the current conflict between Moscow and Kyiv.
He made the comments during a Kremlin ceremony on Wednesday in which Tracy and other ambassadors were formally presenting their diplomatic credentials to Putin.
Putin went on to say that relations between the U.S. and Russia were in a "deep crisis" that was "based on fundamentally different approaches to the formation of the modern world order."
He added that Russia was open to a constructive partnership with every country and would not isolate itself, and that it had no hostile intentions towards anyone.
