Russian President Vladimir Putin has claimed that Ukraine's Western handlers ensured Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who is Jewish, became Ukraine’s President to cover the country’s “glorification of Nazism” during the Holocaust.

Putin’s claims came, without evidence, in response to a reporter’s question on Tuesday. The 70-year-old politician has made similar claims since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in Feb. 2022, which he has called a “special military mission.”

Previously, Russia has accused Ukrainian leaders of being neo-Nazis pursuing a “genocide” of Russian-speakers.
Zelenskyy has repeatedly dismissed allegations that he has supported neo-Nazis in Ukraine. The nation's Western powers have also dubbed Putin’s claims as “baseless.”
