A recording captured Los Angeles city leaders making derogatory and racist remarks as they conspired to consolidate their power. The comments by City Council President Nury Martinez and others have led to widespread calls for those on the recording to resign. LA Times opinion columnist Erika Smith joined William Brangham to discuss protests that erupted at the council’s meeting on Tuesday.
