The president of the heli-skiing company involved in a fatal avalanche is calling Wednesday "the saddest day ever"

Tom Brinkerhoff, President of RK Heliski, met with reporters on Thursday, a day after three tourists were killed in an avalanche while heli-skiing near Invermere, B.C.

"We are heartbroken about the accident that happened yesterday... It is impossible to put into words the sorrow that we feel and the sadness that is shared by our guests, their families, and all of our staff" Brinkerhoff told reporters.

According to RK Heliski General Manager Graham Holt, the avalanche was triggered by a skier and the group was about a quarter of the way down the run when it occurred.

Holt also said that guests are also put through significant training including avalanche safety and helicopter safety.

Every guest wears a pack with a probe shovel and radio according to Holt.

Holt was quick to say that they did help in the recovery.
