MP's haven't had a pay rise in over six years as in 2018 then Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern froze pay for members of Parliament and her cabinet took a pay cut during the pandemic.

A new review by the Independent Remuneration Authority has found their wages need to be more aligned to that of the private sector despite the cuts across the public service.
