Kerala Governor Arif Mohammad Khan on Sunday signed a controversial ordinance to amend the Police Act. The opposition expressed concern, saying the police are being given undue power and this could potentially curtail the freedom of the press. The police have said they will set up standard operating procedures in consultation with legal experts.
