Polio found at London sewage plant as national incident is declared

People are being urged to ensure their vaccines are up to date after traces of polio were detected in sewers in east London.

The last confirmed case of the virus was contracted in 1984, while the UK was declared polio-free in 2003.

The discovery has prompted the UK Health Security Agency to declare a national incident as they try to track cases.
