National incident declared after polio detected in London sewage

Public health officials have declared a national incident to raise the take-up of the polio vaccine after traces of the virus were found in sewage from works in east London.

The UK Health Security Agency said the risk was "extremely low", but urged those who were not fully vaccinated to contact their GP.
