Police Association President, Chris Cahill told Breakfast Police Officers are struggling to afford to live with reports of officers having to move home, while the Government would rather give landlords a tax break.
Police officers have rejected the latest pay offer from the Government. The offer made to the Police Association included a $5000 pay increase backdated to November last year, two 4% salary increases this year and next year, and changes to some allowances, leave accumulation and short notice shift changes.
Cahill says the latest offer is lower than what was put forward by the previous Labour government, despite National promising to crack down on crime.
