Police are investigating alleged racist comments made by one of the Conservative Party's largest donors about former Labour MP Diane Abbott.
The remarks are said to have been made by Frank Hester at a company meeting in Horsforth, near Leeds, in 2019, with the businessman allegedly saying Ms Abbott made him "want to hate all black women" and that she "should be shot".
The Metropolitan Police previously said they were assessing the alleged comments after being contacted by the parliamentary liaison and investigation team, but the matter has now been passed onto West Yorkshire Police.
Mr Hester later said he was "deeply sorry" for his "rude" comments, but insisted they had "nothing to do with her gender nor colour of skin".
