Poland has applied for formal approval from Berlin to deliver MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine, the German Defense Ministry confirmed to DW. The German Government has confirmed it will make a decision during the course of the day.
Poland bought the jets from Germany in 2002, and now requires German permission to send the fighter jets on. The planes were previously owned by the former East German government. Last month Poland transferred four Soviet built MiG-29 fighter jets to Kyiv, becoming Ukraine's first ally to do so.
