Plymouth’s historic Drake’s Island back on sale with plans for a hotel

A six-acre island off the coast of Devon, which was bought for £6m five years ago, is back on sale.

Drake’s Island is named after Sir Francis himself, who set sail from there in 1577. It was used by the military until World War Two - protecting against French and Spanish invasion.

The site comes with a series of barracks, underground tunnels and fortified structures, with planning permission for a 43-bedroom luxury hotel.
