Petrol and diesel prices were today hiked by 80 paise a litre each, taking the total increase in rates in the last ten days to Rs. 6.40 per litre. Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has cancelled his planned address to the nation ahead of a no-trust vote. The announcement that he has cancelled his speech came after the Pakistani Army chief and the head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) met with Mr Khan earlier in the day. The army and the ISI heads again met with Mr Khan later in the evening. Sri Lanka’s economic woes have worsened, with the island nation running out of medicines and imposing 10-hour-long power cuts. Long queues for fuel are have become a common sight. Forex reserves and foreign investment has dropped by 70 per cent, while debt has soared. The nation is unable to pay for its imports.
