Former union leader and school teacher Pedro Castillo has been sworn in as Peru's new president.
The reformist politician promised to address economic disparities while campaigning and his first task will be to tackle the ailing economy and the COVID-19 crisis.
But the country is still deeply divided and Castillo will likely struggle to implement his policies with Congress in the hands of the opposition.
