Pension Triple Lock: 'We will always be the party that defends pensioners' - Labour

Despite a firm commitment from Number 10, Mel Stride, the work and pensions secretary, suggested pensioners may not get the 8.5% increase in the state pension that earnings figures suggest - as the terms of the lock may still leave room for the government to save money.

Shadow culture secretary Thangam Debbonaire told Sophy Ridge, that Rishi Sunak needs to "come clean" on whether or not he will stand by a manifesto commitment on the triple lock.
