2024 is the year of the election as citizens in more than 50 countries get the chance to vote.

In the world’s largest democracy, India reelected Narendra Modi as prime minister, making him only the second leader in the nation’s history to secure a third term. In a surprise outcome his party lost its parliamentary majority, forcing Modi to rely on a coalition and potentially changing his approach to governing India.

And in Mexico, voters made history by electing Claudia Sheinbaum-- the country’s first female president and first president with Jewish heritage.
