The Prime Minister has apologised for 'making a mistake' and has paid a fine for breaking COVID rules when the country was under lockdown.

The Chancellor paid his fine and says 'I deeply regret the frustration and anger caused and I'm sorry.'

Carrie Johnson, the PM's wife, has also been issued a fixed penalty notice by police officers investigating parties in Downing Street and Whitehall in 2020 and 2021.

Boris Johnson is the first sitting Prime Minister to receive a punishment for breaking the law.
