Families of the victims of a school shooting in Florida have reacted angrily to a jury’s decision to sentence the gunman to life imprisonment instead of a death sentence.
Nikolas Cruz, 24, murdered 17 people and injured 17 others in Parkland, Florida in 2018. The attack at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has been described as one of the worst school mass shootings in the country’s history.
The panel of seven men and five women spared the gunman from death row after voting 17 times in all, once for each murdered victim.
"I'm disgusted with our legal system. I'm disgusted with those jurors," said Ilan Marc Alhadeff, whose 14-year-old daughter Alyssa died in the shooting.
