Paris shooting: At least 3 dead, several injured in attack at Kurdish centre

At least three people were killed and several others injured after a gunman opened fire on a Kurdish cultural centre and nearby cafe in central Paris on Friday.

Prosecutors said they were looking into a possible racist motive for the attack after multiple gunshots rang out on Rue d'Enghien, with the mayor of the district saying other shops also saw gunfire. Mayor Alexandra Cordebard said the suspect was taken to hospital, where he was immediately arrested by police.

Protests later erupted near the scene of the shooting, with riot police firing teargas to push back an angry crowd. Some members of the Kurdish community shouted slogans against the Turkish government.
