Pakistani police have arrested two Christian brothers accused of blasphemy, just two days after a Muslim mob burnt down churches and houses in the city of Jaranwala.

The arson was supposedly in response to the brothers’ purported act of desecrating the Quran.

Furthermore, pages of the Koran were found scattered across the fire-ravaged streets of Jaranwala, with derogatory remarks written on them in red. Attached, were extra pages which read the names, addresses and national ID numbers of the accused brothers.

It is currently unknown who distributed the brothers' information. Local authorities say they are investigating both cases simultaneously.

While many locals are demanding justice against these crimes, critics say Pakistan's blasphemy law is often misused against tiny minority groups and even sometimes against Muslims to settle personal scores.
