Officials said rescue work was completed Sunday night after at least 10 train cars derailed in Pakistan's southern Sindh province earlier that day.

The derailment resulted in the deaths of at least 30 passengers, while injuring over 100 others, according to officials.

As the rescue work concluded, critically injured people were transported to the southern port city of Karachi for better treatment.

"Our rescue work began on Sunday afternoon. Ten cars derailed and all collided with each other," a local railway official said.

The Hazara Express train, with around 1,000 passengers on board, veered off the track while crossing a canal bridge on its way to the country's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province from Karachi.
