Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced on Tuesday the increase of the minimum wage in the province to $15 an hour, beginning Jan. 1, 2022.
Homeworkers, students under 18, hospitality workers and hunting and fishing guides will also see an increase in their wages.
The change means a full-time minimum wage worker will see an annual yearly increase of $1,350 in their salary.
Ford said the increase will impact over 670,000 workers in Ontario.
Previously, Ford cancelled the planned minimum wage hike to $15 an hour in 2019 when the Progressive Conservatives took power from the Liberals.
